On an average day, women spent more than twice as much time preparing food and drink and doing interior cleaning, and four times as much time doing laundry as did men. Men spent more than twice as much time doing activities related to lawn, garden and houseplants, and doing interior and exterior maintenance, repairs, and decoration as did women. On an average day, women spent about 48 more minutes in household activities and 18 more minutes caring for household members than did men. (Data are from the 2014 survey).

On an average day, 20 percent of men reported doing housework–such as cleaning or doing laundry–compared with 49 percent of women. Forty-three percent of men did food preparation or cleanup activities versus 69 percent of women. (Data are from the 2014 survey).
